Man’s Russian national team on swimming has won gold at the European Championships in the relay 4×50 meters freestyle. The total time of the race was 1 minute 22,92 seconds.
The team included Michael Vekovischev, Vladimir Morozov, Vladislav Grinev and Clement Kolesnikov. Silver was won by the Polish team, a gap which Russian athletes stood at 0.82 seconds (1 min from 23.74 sec). The bronze was won by the Italian team (1 min 24,50 sec).
In the relay 4×50 meters freestyle, the Russian team also took first place and advanced to the finals after going the distance in 1 minute 25,07 seconds. In qualifying participated Michael Vekovischev, Daniil Markov, Alexander Popkov, and Sergey Fesikov. Second place was taken by the Polish team (25,21 min 1 sec), and the third — the team of great Britain (1 min 25,31 sec).
Vladimir Morozov also received a gold medal at a distance of 50 m breaststroke. He set a new European record, swimming the distance in 25 and 51 seconds. The tournament takes place in Glasgow, Scotland.
