Customs Finland will pay compensation totalling more than EUR 11 million because of errors in the conversion of foreign currency during customs clearance. As reported, from may 2016 to June 2019, the customs officers used the Russian ruble, the Chinese yuan and the U.S. dollar, set by the Finnish Bank, but had to apply the exchange rate of the European Central Bank. Citizens, held at the Finnish customs procedure for Declaration of funds in this period are asked to fill out a form on the website of the office for a refund. According to customs officials, an error was made in about 960 thousands of cases the procedure.
