The world chess Olympiad was moved to Moscow
The international chess Federation (FIDE) moved the world chess Olympiad from Khanty-Mansiysk to Moscow. This was stated by the organization’s President, Arkady Dvorkovich, reported on the FIDE page in Facebook.
«World chess Olympiad to be held in Moscow. Khanty-Mansiysk will take the first in the history of chess Paralympics,» — said in the message.
Also the President of the organization called the possible venue of the match for the title of world chess champion, which will be held in 2020. Applications for the match was filed by Argentina and the UAE.
World chess Olympiad is held every two years. The last such tournament held in September-October 2018 in Batumi.
In men, the winners of the chess Olympiad 2018 was the team of China. Second place went to the Americans, the third — Russians. The women’s tournament was also won by the representatives of China. Silver — national team of Ukraine, bronze — Georgia. The Russian women’s team won the competition in fourth place.
