The Estonian driver Tanak became the first world rally champion
Toyota Estonian driver Ott Tanak has become the world rally champion 2019. On Rally Catalunya, the pilot took second place, securing a victory in the standings at one stage up to the end of the season.
The winner of the stage in Catalonia was the Belgian racer Hyundai’s Thierry Neuville, and the third was his team-mate Spaniard Dani Sordo.
During the season Tanak won six stages — Estonian became the first rider in the Rally of Sweden, Chile, Portugal, Finland, Germany and the UK.
Tanaka managed to interrupt a 15-year winning streak of the French racers in the world rally championship. The last six seasons the first season was Sebastian Ogier, and before that nine of the titles were scored by Sebastian Loeb.
The final phase of the 2019 season in Australia, the title of Vice-champion will compete Neuville and Ogier, competing in the current season for Citroen.
