Tennis player Medvedev received the title of «Honored master of sports»
The Minister of sports of Russia Pavel Kolobkov handed tennis player Daniel Medvedev badge and certificate of «Honored master of sports of Russia», informs the official website of the Department. The event was also attended by the President of the Russian tennis Federation (OFWs) Shamil Tarpischev.
«Very pleased to receive a sign and certificate of «Honored master of sports of Russia», it is very honorable for me because it shows that the results that I have achieved lately, really crazy,» — said Medvedev.
The tennis player withdrew from the Kremlin Cup citing fatigue after winning his tournament series «masters» in Shanghai. In final, the Russian defeated the representative of Germany Alexander Zverev (6:4, 6:1). The title was Medvedev’s fourth this season. In April, he won in Sofia in August in Cincinnati, in September in St. Petersburg.
«Now I’m preparing for the next tournaments. A very important competitions in Vienna, Paris, London and, of course, the final tournament of the Davis Cup. I hope my team will show the highest score at the end of the season,» — said the tennis player.
In Shanghai Medvedev made it to the finals for the sixth tournament in a row. In August, he lost crucial matches at the competition in Washington and Montreal, and in September he lost to Rafael Nadal in the final of the US Open.
At the end of last week Medvedev has retained fourth place in the ATP rankings, and in the title race climbed to third position, ahead of Swiss Roger Federer. Over the past three months, the President had a 32 meeting, in which he scored 29 victories.
