Judge the finals of Wimbledon-2019 was fired for an interview without permission
The Association of tennis professionals (ATP) has dismissed the chief judge Damian Steiner, reports the New York Times. The organization refused to cooperate with the arbitrator for violation of the internal regulations: a 44-year-old judge without a permit has been interviewed by the Argentine media.
In mid-July, Steiner was the umpire in the final match of Wimbledon between Novak Djokovic and Roger Federer. The referee for the first time in his career he was assigned to a game of this level, and also became the first ever Argentine, judging the singles final of the tournament.
According to the NYT, after the match of Federer and Djokovic Steiner gave more than ten unauthorized interview. And he not only received permission to talk with the media, but discussed topics that ATP does not allow to lift, even in cases when the judges gives the nod to dealing with the press.
The final match of the Wimbledon 2019 between Federer and Djokovic ended with the victory of the Serbian tennis player in five sets with a score 7:6, 1:6, 7:6, 4:6, 13:12. The meeting lasted a record for the tournament is 4 hours and 55 minutes, and during the game, Djokovic managed to win the match points. The athlete won the fifth career title winner of Wimbledon and in the 16-th time has won the tournament «Grand slam».
